False Perceptions

1 Samuel 16:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have [a]refused him. For[b] the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Our society is obsessed with image. Commercials, videos and print ads push an impression of perfection into the minds of their consumers on a 24/7 cycle. The use of models that should be a representation of the norm is almost always a skewed view of the conventional.

According to research, the average height of a woman in the U.S. is about 5 feet, 4 inches and according to an article published by the Today Show the average US woman is a 16 US https://www.today.com/style/what-s-average-size-16-new-normal-us-women-t103315.

This is far from the average for the model we see on TV who is between 5 ft 8 in (173 cm) and 5 ft 11 inches with a dress size of 4-6 US.

We cannot allow a false idea based on a shallow perspective make us feel incomplete.

We were not all supposed to be tall and bone thin. Some of us God thought to give curves!

God makes us in different hues, shapes, heights and widths to flex His creative glory! However, He is ultimately concerned with the state of our heart.

He is pleased when our hearts trust Him to lead and when we have a mind that is surrendered to live according to His principals and predestined pathways.

When we concern ourselves with what God is concerned with the message the world attempts to sale us becomes irrelevant!

Our Father sees us as perfect when we love Him with our total hearts and put all of our passion into doing His will.

Do not let society’s definition of perfection sway you from the opinion of the Almighty God! Their thoughts about imperfections should never stop you from living joyously!

Your teeth do not have to be perfectly straight to laugh out loud! The spoken content is what triggers the laugh! Having a few extra pounds cannot stop the pulsation of a beat inside your ears; so do not allow it to keep you from dancing!

Societies false perceptions are just that, fake, inaccurate and distorted. Gaining acceptance of the world is not a fool proof way to feel good or to become successful; but God’s acceptance is!

Seek to please Him only.
