Like many others I have started the journey to better health. I look forward to an exciting future filled with adventure and fun.
I realize that there are many challenges ahead; but, am excited to report that I have conquered the most monumental test of getting to the starting line.
On Monday, January 6, 2020 while standing on the starting block I heard the shot go off and begin the race. I am definitely in a competition; but it is not with anyone on the outside. I am racing against the enemy within me. I am racing against laziness, procrastination, and excuses.
Thank God I know that the “race is not given to the swift” because there is a lot to lose (literally) and it will take time. I will not allow time to be a factor in this journey. It will not become a determining element of what success; rather, a chronicler of what is now and potentials for future feats.
Day 1 started with a simple two mile walk before getting ready for work. Next I packed my prepared meals that were prepped on Sunday evening. A friend called requesting a favor that included lunch out at a popular restaurant. My first thought was to say, “Absolutely not” but what better way to test my fortitude. I can proudly say I came out on top! I am also excited to note that I drank 113.8 ounces of my 1 gallon goal. (I will get there soon). I finished the day with a 3 mile walk.
Today I feel encouraged to continue. I know I will have to wake up each day the same way.
The journey has begun. My goal is the finish line. My eyes are looking ahead but I will take it day by day.
